Elecom Japan has announced its latest gadget in a form of a wireless-enabled drive recorder with GPS for your car. The device (model LVR-SD310HWG) can be installed easily on the upper portion of your windshield, using a bracket near the sun visor and it can keep track of your whole journey.
You just need to power the device using your car’s cigar socket and the wireless enabled drive recorder can capture 720p HD video at 30fps using a CMOS image sensor with 120-degree wide angle lens. It also comes with built-in microphone, Wi-Fi, GPS (record the location, time, speed and direction) and has a microSD card slot supporting up to 64GB.
The device is smart as it can record automatically during an impact using its G-sensor, let’s say a backing car hits your vehicle while you are away, it can capture that event and you can just report it directly to the officers using the save recordings from this device.
I’m pretty sure that this gadget can also be used as a security device to record the surroundings when you leave your car in the parking area, malls and etc. The Elecom LVR-SD310HWG will be available from mid-March, sad to say pricing is still unknown at the moment.
