There are lots of portable chargers released last year, but this year expect for a change because we are now about to see water powered gadgets like the PowerTrekk Fuel Cell Charger. MyFC, a fuel cell innovator based in Stockholm, Sweden introduced this gadget. It has an internal battery pack that can be directly charged from the water. This gadget has a competitive advantage against other portable chargers such as solar energy, kinetic energy, etc. because this charger is not affected by weather changes. The technology behind this gadget is it splits water to create hydrogen that goes through the fuel cell to create an electric current. What users need to do is just to insert a fuel pack and add water. Most of the gadgets with USB port can be powered by PowerTrekk. PowerTrekk power specifications: Rated Output is 5V, 1000 mA and Input of 5V, 500 mA. Internal buffer: Li-ion, 1600 mAh and Fuel cell: PEM 4 cell unit 1000 mAh. As of now there are no words on pricing and release date.

Canon has recently announced its latest compact photo printer called Selphy CP800. This new gadget features a 2.5-inch tilting LCD display, a bluetooth adapter that allows it to print wirelessly from compatible devices while on the move, and a optional battery pack if there are no power source nearby. This portable Canon photo printer has a feature shuffle function that will randomly select photos from the memory card and combine them into a single 4×6-inch image. Available in either black or white colors, the Canon Selphy CP800 Compact Photo Printer will retail for $99.99. The battery pack and Bluetooth adapter are priced at $80 and $50, respectively.

Toshiba Store Art 3 Portable Hard Drive

Toshiba has announced its newest portable hard drives known as the Toshiba Store Art 3. This hard drive has a storage capacity of 750 GB (the one with the blue color) and 1 TB (the black color one). This two interesting plug-n-play hard drives has both rubber edging design for bump-resistance as well as an internal shock protection sensor to protect the stored data. The said hard drives also contains pre-installed NTI BackupNow EZTM software for users to easily backup their complete PC system with a single click, so that in the case of losing data, users can able to restore their system even if Windows is unable to start. Toshiba Store Art 3 has form factor of 2.5 inches and has a feature of encrypting data and protecting password for safety. This latest technology will be available in May 2010.

Transcend has officially introduced its latest 2.5-inch USB 3.0 portable hard drive known as the StoreJet 25D3 . Its feature includes gloss piano finish; it also has a storage capacity of up to 500 GB and guarantees a transfer speed of 90 MB/s. The StoreJet 25D3 USB 3.0 portable hard drive is backwards-compatible with USB 2.0 and features a multicolor USB 3.0/2.0 status LED indicator, wherein users can easily identify the drive’s current connection type. When operating in USB 2.0 mode, the indicator will appear orange; when USB 3.0 is connected, the LED light will turn blue. I-O Data has come backed, and unleashed its latest technology, the new DVRP-U8E. This latest DVD writer is powered by writing speed of up to 8x for DVD+/-R, 6x for DVD+/-RW, 5x for DVD-RAM, and 24x for CD-R/RW. In addition, it was designed measuring just 20mm thick, this new portable DVD writer features the latest USB 2.0 interface, and comes with the Nero Express Essentials software for better burning of data.
