IFA 2015: Samsung Gear S2 and S2 Classic Pricing Revealed

Samsung has revealed the pricing for its Gear S2 smartwatch series on the ongoing IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin) 2015 event in Berlin. The latest smartwatch by the company comes in three variants: Gear S2, S2 Classic and S2 3G.

As of the moment, Samsung only announced the pricing for the Gear S2 priced at 349 Euro and 2,599KR in Denmark, and Samsung Gear S2 Classic for 399 Euros and 2,999KR. Both Gear 2 models are expected to land in retail stores in Finland and Denmark this coming October.

The difference between Gear S2 and S2 Classic is that the Gear S2 comes in dark gray case with a dark gray band or silver case with a white band, while the Classic will have a black case with leather band.

In terms of specifications the Samsung Gear S2 and Classic smartwatch features a 1.2-inch round Super AMOLED display with 360 x 360 resolution, powered by a 1GHz dual core processor paired with 512MB of RAM and 4GB built-in storage.

Other important specs of the Gear S2 include Tizen operating system, wireless-charging support, IP68 water and dust proof resistant certifications, and 250 mAh battery which can power the device for two to three days under mixed usage.

In addition, there is also Gear apps, S Voice, Voice Memo, fitness tracker apps such as heart-rate sensor, S Health Nike+Running, find my device, safety assistance, privacy lock, power saving mode, and support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC. One of the best features of the Gear S2 is it support several Android smartphones with at least 1.5GB RAM and runs Android 4.4 KitKat or latest OS version, not just Samsung galaxy devices.

On the other hand, Samsung Gear S2 3G variant comes with a dedicated SIM slot and has the same internal hardware of the S2 and Classic, except the battery. It comes with a larger 300 mAh capacity because of the added communication feature which can drain its battery more quickly compared to those variants without the 3G connectivity.
