What is NZXT Sentry 3?
NZXT Sentry 3 is one of the latest technology by NZXT and it is the successor of the Sentry 2 fan controller hub. Fan controllers are used by many because of its futuristic looks that will give your desktop computer an awesome look and other useful benefits such as the ability to add more fans to your existing fan set-up for more cooling performance and at the same time, the ability to control the speed of up to 5 fans manually or automatically, depending on your preference.
Why Install Fan Controllers or Hub?
You need to install a fan controller hub mainly because there are motherboards which has only limited number of system fan connectors like 1-2 ports in a mini-ATX boards and 2-3 fans to full-ATX motherboards. I’m sure you have also noticed that not all aftermarket PC fans have the 4-pin molex connector that is why some manufacturers include a 3pin-4pin molex adapter on their package so that user can install it when there are no system fan connector available on the motherboard.
What’s New with the NZXT Sentry 3 Fan Controller?
The Sentry 3 fan controller has a new modern user interface design which looks really awesome compared to the previous one, although I prefer the orange-theme on the sentry 2 because that’s the main theme of my gaming RIG. I have used the Sentry 2 for a couple of months and I was really satisfied with its performance and its color-combination is perfect on my PC build.
This newer model now fully supports 3pin and 4pin fans and now able to handle high performance fans that uses up to 15w of power. This fan controller allows you to monitor your PC’s vital signals with integrated temperature and fan speed displays. Not only that, the NZXT Sentry 3 fan controller is also the very first to have short-circuit, over-voltage and under-voltage protection. Here is a sample photo of the previous version, and let me know what can you say about it on the comments below.
