Kingston Digital, Inc., the Flash memory division of Kingston Technology Company, Inc. has announced their newest line of enterprise SSDs, the SSDNow E50.  The E50 is Kingston’s newest enterprise-grade solid-state drive (SSD) featuring a SATA 6.0 Gbps interface, a SandForce SF-2581 controller, a MTBF of 1 million hours and can deliver read/write speeds of up to 550/530 MB/s (100GB & 240GB Models) and 530/500 MB/s (480GB Model).  The SSDNow E50 will be marketed as a more economical alternative to the SSDNow E100 which features 30K NAND that is more suited for write-intensive server environments. According to Kingston, the SSDNow E50 is oriented towards caching, transactional processing, and improving the performance of virtualized applications without the premium pricing of a full enterprise-featured SSD.
