Yesterday morning ATI Radeon HD 4770, a 40-nanometer 3D Graphics card was released . Available now on 3D cards starting at $109 (before a $10 online rebate), the Radeon HD 4770 is the first 3D chip built on the 40-nanometer process technology, which allows for faster, more power-efficient hardware than AMD’s previous 55nm chips.
ATI Radeon HD 4770 falls between Radeon HD 4830 and HD 4670 graphics cards. With core clocked at 750MHz, HD 4770 has 512MB GDDR5 memory clocked at 800MHz and uses 128-bit memory interface to offer 51.2GB/s memory bandwidth. Boasting of 960GFLOPs processing power, HD 4770 has a thermal design power rating of 80Watts.
This new Radeon video card is the flagship product of cards based on the RV740 GPU. The RV740 is AMD’s first 40nm GPU and this card is meant to compete with NVIDIA’s Geforce 9800 GT. And also gaming performance gets better with DirectX 10.1 support in HD 4770 over the DirectX 10 supporting cards. Thus, gamers can play DirectX 10.1 based games like HAWX, S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear Sky, Stormrise and Battleforge.
Apart from this, HD 4770 features the second generation Unified Video Decoder with support for HDMI for visually pleasing high definition Blu-ray movie watching experience. By including HD 7.1 Surround Sound support, audio won’t be compromised on this card.
Radeon HD 4770 main features:
- GPU: RV740 @ 750MHz
- Shader cores: 640
- Memory: 512Mb GDDR5 @ 3200MHz / 128-bit
- Texture units: 32
- ROPs: 16
- Direct3D 10.1 and OpenGL 2/3
